How We Screen and Select Private Chefs for Private Families


All chefs considered for private family positions go through a careful screening process with our agency. We pay close attention to a candidate’s professional background, previous experience, recommendations, and ability to work within the standards, routines, and expectations of a private household. Each chef is also briefed on professional conduct, discretion, and the etiquette required when working in a family environment.

Our private chefs are carefully selected and may go through a series of checks, including:

  • References from previous employers
  • Review of work history
  • Document verification
  • Psychological profiling and personal suitability assessment

We place particular importance not only on previous experience, but also on reliability, discretion, flexibility, and the chef’s ability to adapt to the lifestyle and preferences of the family.

Private Chef Recruitment Process in France
Request Review and Candidate Search
We begin by carefully discussing your requirements, expectations, household needs, schedule, and the profile of the private chef you are looking for.

Once the key details of the request have been agreed, a service agreement is signed between the client and the agency. After the agreement is signed, we begin the recruitment process using our own candidate network and internal database.

When selecting candidates, we take into account key criteria such as:
1. previous experience working in private households or private residences;
2. professional experience in family cooking, restaurant kitchens, or villa-based positions;
3. ability to adapt menus to the family’s preferences, dietary requirements, and daily routines;
4. experience in preparing different types of cuisine, where required for the role;
5. positive references from previous employers;
6. personal reliability, discretion, and sense of responsibility;
7. language skills, where required for the role.
Selection and Interview Process
At the first stage, we send you a selection of candidate profiles together with CVs and, where available, video introductions.

You review the candidates and choose those you would like to meet. We then arrange online interviews at a convenient time and fully coordinate the process.

After speaking with the candidates, you decide who is best suited to your family. Where necessary, we may carry out additional checks or further evaluation before moving to the next stage.

The selected candidate is then invited to proceed to the final stage of the recruitment process, which may include an in-person meeting and a trial period. If the trial period is successfully completed and both sides are satisfied, the candidate starts permanent work with the family.

The agency fee is paid after the selected candidate has successfully completed the trial period and begins permanent employment.
Start of Employment and Guarantee Support
Once the candidate starts working with the family, the employment agreement is concluded directly between the employer and the employee, where applicable and where the family provides such an arrangement.

Our work with the client does not end once the candidate starts. If, after the placement, the selected employee is not the right fit for any reason or the cooperation cannot continue, we provide a replacement following the same recruitment process as at the initial stage.

The number of replacements is unlimited within the guarantee period. The client may choose the guarantee period from several available options.
